What is Kundalini?
Kundalini comes from the Sansrit word Kundal’ meaning coiled up. In yoga it refers to the energy coiled up like a serpent in the root chakra at the base of the spine.
Esoterically speaking, Kundalini is a psycho-spiritual energy, the energy of the consciousness that resides in the body, dormant until it is aroused either through spiritual development or spontaneously when the body and breath flow in DEEP connection and expression. In Tantra yoga, Kundalini is an aspect of Shakti, hence the term ‘Kundalini Shakti, the divine female energy and consort of Shiva, the divine male energy.
